Ontario reported 1,707 new COVID-19 cases today. There are 645 new hospitalized cases, up 27 since yesterday.
The Niagara Region reported 20 cases today, an increase from yesterday’s report of 13.
“Ontario is reporting 1,707 cases of #COVID19. Locally, there are 727 new cases in Toronto, 373 in Peel and 168 in York Region. There are 1,373 more resolved cases and over 34,600 tests completed,” said Health Minister Christine Elliott on Twitter this morning.
Public health units in Ontario also reporting higher case numbers include Durham Region with 72 new cases, Waterloo with 61 cases, Hamilton with 58 new cases, and Halton Region and Windsor with 47 new cases. Other public health units reported 40 cases or less.
There are seven new deaths reported in Ontario today. This brings the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the province to 3,663. There was one new death reported yesterday in Niagara. There are no new deaths reported today. In total, 84 people have died from the coronavirus in the region.
Niagara Region continues to report numbers under 30 after the spike of cases seen last weekend with 36 cases reported on Saturday. This is the highest daily case count since Nov. 10 when the region saw a new record high of 63 cases.
645 cases in Ontario hospitals
Ontario has now had 118,199 total cases, with 100,012 cases resolved. There are currently 645 cases in hospitals, with 185 in intensive care and 112 on ventilators.
Hospitalized cases increased by 27, the number of those in intensive increased by 17 and patients on ventilators increased by four since yesterday.
The total number of confirmed cases in the Niagara Region is now at 2,161 with 1,870 resolved. Of those cases, there are 207 active cases, increasing by three since yesterday and 18 active outbreaks, the same as yesterday.
