Ontario reported 1,925 new COVID-19 cases on Monday hitting a new all time daily high.
There were 3,783 new cases over the weekend. There were 1,859 new cases reported on Saturday and 1,924 new cases reported on Sunday.
Niagara Region reported 65 cases over the weekend. Saturday’s report was 26 new cases. Sunday’s was 39. There were 20 cases reported today.

“Ontario is reporting 1,925 cases of #COVID19 and nearly 45,300 tests completed. Locally, there are 601 new cases in Toronto, 512 in Peel, 167 in York Region and 133 in Durham. There are 1,412 more resolved cases,” said Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier of Ontario and Minister of Health, on Twitter Monday morning.
Public health units in Ontario also reporting higher cases numbers including Hamilton with 76 new cases, Waterloo with 61 new cases, Simcoe-Muskoka with 60 cases, and Halton with 54. Other public health units reported 50 cases or less.
There were 20 new deaths reported on Saturday in the province and 15 deaths reported on Sunday. There were 26 new deaths reported today. There have been 3,798 COVID-19 deaths in Ontario to date.
There were no new deaths reported over the weekend or today in the Niagara Region. In total, 87 people have died from the coronavirus in the region.
Niagara Region reported 39 cases on Sunday. This surpasses the spike of 36 cases seen on Nov. 21. This is the highest daily case count since Nov. 10 when the region saw a new record high of 63 cases.
725 cases in Ontario hospitals
Ontario has now had 123,526 total cases, with 104,792 cases resolved. There are currently 725 cases in hospitals, with 213 in intensive care and 121 on ventilators.
Hospitalized cases increased by 51, the number of those in intensive care increased by six and patients on ventilators increased by five since Friday.
The total number of confirmed cases in the Niagara Region is now at 2,317 with 1,988 resolved. Of those cases, there are 242 active cases, increasing by 38 since Friday and 14 active outbreaks, down by four since Friday.
