Ontario reported 2,139 new COVID-19 cases, a drop from Tuesday’s daily case record of 2,275.
The Niagara Region reported 62 cases yesterday and 35 cases on Monday. There were 52 cases reported today.
There were 43 new COVID-19 deaths reported in Ontario today, This brings the total number in the province to 4,035. There are three new deaths reported today in Niagara. In total, 92 people have died from the coronavirus in the region.
“Ontario is reporting 2,139 cases of #COVID19. Locally, there are 780 new cases in Toronto, 528 in Peel, 148 in York Region, 143 in Durham and 111 in Windsor-Essex County. There are 2,043 more resolved cases and nearly 49,200 tests completed,” said Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott on Twitter this morning.
Public health units in Ontario also reporting higher case numbers include Halton Region with 55 new cases, Waterloo with 52 cases, Hamilton with 47, and Simcoe-Muskoka with 46. Other public health units reported 45 cases or less.
Niagara Region trends
The Niagara Region reported 62 cases yesterday, a significant jump from Mondays’ 35 cases, but in line with the weekend reports of 65 cases on Saturday and 71 on Sunday, the highest daily case count yet since Nov. 10 when there were 63 cases reported. There was a slight drop in cases today, but numbers remain above 50.
932 cases in hospitals
Ontario has now had 146,535 total cases, with 125,416 cases resolved. There are currently 932 cases in hospitals, with 256 in intensive care and 157 on ventilators.
Hospitalized cases increased by 11, the number of those in intensive care increased by seven and patients on ventilators increased by one since yesterday.
The total number of confirmed cases in the Niagara Region is now at 2,723 with 2,215 resolved. Of those cases, there are 416 active cases, increasing by 14 since yesterday and 19 active outbreaks, down by one since yesterday.
