It may not look like there is going to be a white Christmas yet, but rest assured there is up to 10-15 cm of snow headed for West Niagara.
Flurries are expected to continue through the weekend, along with a little bit of rain.
Grimsby, Lincoln, West Lincoln, Pelham, and Wainfleet are currently experiencing mixed precipitation with some ice pellets in Pelham and Wainfleet. Snow is expected to begin this evening Christmas Eve night.
According to the Weather Network, Grimsby, Lincoln, and West Lincoln can expect up to 10-15 cm, while Pelham and Wainfleet can expect approximately 15 cm, starting this evening and continuing overnight and into Friday.
Accuweather, however, predicted closer to 10-15 cm for Grimsby, Lincoln, West Lincoln, and Pelham with 10-25 cm predicted for Wainfleet. Either way, residents will need to get their shovels ready.
Snow is expected to start Thursday afternoon and continue overnight into Friday to bring the white stuff through Christmas Day, with the majority of snowfall occurring in the evening with an accumulation of 5-10 cm in Grimsby, Lincoln, and West Lincoln and approximately 10 cm in Pelham and Wainfleet. Approximately 5 cm is expected overnight.
That should be enough for Santa to land his sleigh on his deliveries.
In most areas, snowfall will lessen going into Christmas Day. Flurries are expected for Grimsby, Lincoln, West Lincoln, Pelham and Wainfleet throughout the day Friday, with an approximate 24-hour accumulation of 2-4 cm.
There are slightly higher temperatures Thursday afternoon ranging from 6 C to 9 C (3 C to 6 C with the wind chill), but this is expected to go down tonight and Friday with temperatures ranging from 0 C to -3 C (-5 C to -10 C with the wind chill).
Forecast for the weekend
Into the Christmas weekend, residents can expect temperatures to remain in the negatives or low positives, with temperatures ranging from -3 C to 2 C on Saturday and Sunday (feeling like -2 to -10 C with the wind chill).
For Grimsby, Lincoln, West Lincoln and Pelham, a few flurries are expected on Saturday (<1 cm) and a mix of sun and clouds with some precipitation (2-4 mm rain throughout the day) for Sunday.
Flurries are also expected Saturday in Wainfleet, however, there is 1-3 cm is forecasted. On Sunday, there will be scattered flurries and mixed precipitation (1-3 mm of rain and <1 cm of snow).
