On April 20, 2023, the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), Hamilton Police Service (HPS), Niagara Parks Police Service (NPPS), Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and the Town of Lincoln partnered for a joint enforcement initiative focusing on commercial motor vehicle enforcement.
In response to community concern involving increased commercial motor vehicle traffic in Lincoln and West Lincoln, the focus of this initiative was to identify commercial vehicles intentionally bypassing the Vineland Inspection Station and to conduct in-depth vehicular inspections to ensure compliance with road safety standards, as legislated by the Province of Ontario.
Over 50 commercial vehicles were directed into the Vineland Inspection Station. 49 were comprehensively inspected. 61 Provincial Offence Notices (tickets) were issued for various Highway Traffic Act offences.
During the enforcement initiative officers stopped a commercial vehicle that was not equipped with a required ignition interlock device. An ignition interlock device is required following an impaired driving related driving conviction. The vehicle was impounded.
Another vehicle was stopped that had no insurance coverage. The licence plates were removed, and the vehicle was towed away.
The Niagara Regional Police Service and our joint community partners remain committed to achieving our collective goal of enhancing road safety.
Members of the public wishing to report traffic complaints are encouraged to contact our Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) by telephone at 905-688-4111, option #3, extension #1025555 or by email at [email protected]
