Still time to apply for back-to-school financial assistance from Ontario government

Back to school kids A one time payment is available to parents for back to school expenses from the Ontario government

The province of Ontario is offering a one-time support payment to families with children going back to school this fall.

The Support for Families program will provide families with a one-time payment, per child to help supplement the cost of school supplies, books, educational apps, and other related learning tools.

Eligible parents will receive $200 for children aged 0 to 12 years old or $250 for special needs children or youth aged 0 to 21 years old.

This funding can help parents with the costs of workbooks, educational apps, educational subscription services, movies, and other tools to support learning at home. “Parents” refers to parents, guardians, and caregivers.

You are eligible to apply for this program if you have a child that meets the age criteria. Income does not affect eligibility. You can submit one application per child.

Additional information needed for the application includes the name of the child’s school and school board, the child’s date of birth, banking information for direct deposit, and a valid email address.

The deadline to apply for this program is Aug. 31, 2020 at midnight EST.

To learn more about the program or to apply, you can visit the Government of Ontario website: Support For Families Program
