A Brock University student has tested positive for COVID-19, however, the student does not live on campus and has not visited campus this term.

The report came the day before Niagara Health reported 12 new COVID-19 cases in the region.

The St. Catharines university is working with Niagara Public Health to ensure the necessary precautions are taking place to protect the health of the student and community. The student is currently in self-isolation.

Brock University has taken steps this month to promote the health and safety of students, faculty, and staff. Most of the classes this term are online and campus access points have been limited to those that are required to be on campus. Visitors who are permitted to enter buildings must complete a self-screening survey and must follow current health and safety requirements such as wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing.
