Community Care of West Niagara has received $20,000 to help provide food to its clients from a Government of Canada fund.

The funding is a grant via the Emergency Community Support Fund which supports qualified non-profit organizations working with vulnerable populations impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. It is administered by the Niagara Community Foundation.

“CCWN is grateful to be awarded $20,000 to support its efforts in providing Lincoln clients, healthy nutritious food,” said a recent CCWN news advisory.

It said CCWN works with “local food growers and businesses to ensure funding dollars are stretched as far as possible while supporting local. With the onset of COVID-19, CCWN has experienced an increase in clients and anticipates the trend will continue over the winter months.”

CCWN said it has significantly seen a drop in donations from local donors due to job loss.
