Collision Reconstruction Detectives Investigating Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle – Niagara Falls

On December 10th, 2022, at 6:16pm Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara-on-the-Lake) responded to the intersection of Drummond Road and Summer Street, in the City of Niagara Falls regarding a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian having been struck.

Upon arrival, officers located the injured pedestrian, a 34-year-old male.  Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics responded to the scene alongside members from the Niagara Falls Fire Department (NFFD).  The pedestrian was assessed at the scene before being transported to a local hospital where his injuries were determined to be life threatening.  As a result, the pedestrian was transported by land ambulance to an out-of-town trauma centre for advanced medical care.  Currently, he is listed in critical condition.

Investigation has determined a 2006 Pontiac G6, grey in colour, was travelling North on Drummond Road when it struck a crossing pedestrian near Summer Street.  After the collision occurred, the involved driver stopped and remained at the scene until the arrival of police.  The circumstances surrounding the cause of the collision remain under investigation.

Detectives assigned to the Collision Reconstruction Unit have assumed carriage of the investigation.  They are being assisted by the members from the Forensic Services Unit.
