On July 22, 2021, the Niagara Regional Police Service published a media release titled ““Public Release – Criminal Impaired Driving Offences – July 5th 2021 to July 18th, 2021”.
The media release contained the names, ages and city of residences of persons who had been charged with criminal impaired driving offences in Niagara between July 5, 2021 and July 18, 2021.
The name “Andrew H PITTS, 55 years, Niagara Falls” was added to the list in error.
Mr. Pitts was not arrested or charged for impaired driving as it was stated in the release.
Mr. Pitts name has been removed from the original release. We request the media and members of the public to review any stories they may have published and to also remove his name.
We have been in communication with Mr. Pitts. We regret that this has occurred and apologize to him and those who may have been impacted by this error.
We will be conducting an internal review to determine the circumstances around this incident.
