Detectives Appeal for Witnesses After St. Catharines Assault

On July 5th, 2022, at 6:50pm Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines / Thorold) responded to the 12 Mile Creek walking trail located off Glendale Avenue, in the City of St. Catharines for an assault that just occurred.

Initial investigation revealed an adult female was walking alone on the trail when she was approached by an unknown male from behind.  The male used physical force to assault the female who sustained minor physical injuries.  The male proceeded to flee the scene on a red e-bike.

The suspect is described as follows:

–          Male

–          White

–          50-55 years of age

–          5’5” tall

–          200lbs

–          Wearing a black t-shirt

–          Wearing black shorts

–          Wearing two strap sandals

The suspect was operating a red e-bike that may have had a basket on the front.  Music was playing from what is believed to have been a portable speaker that was affixed to the e-bike.

At this time, there is no evidence to support this attack was sexual in nature.

Detectives assigned to the 1 District Criminal Investigative Branch (CIB) have assumed carriage of the investigation and are appealing to members of the public for assistance identifying the suspect.
