Detectives Investigating Dog Incident in Niagara Falls

On Monday, July 8, 2024 at approximately 8:20am, 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) uniform officers attended the area of Margaret Street and Argyll Crescent in the City of Niagara Falls in regard to an Animal Complaint.

Investigation revealed a dog was actively attacking the residents inside the home. 

Officers arrived on scene and one officer was immediately attacked and was bitten on the hand. The officer fought the dog off however before he was able to get away the dog lunged at him, biting him again. As a result, officers euthanized the animal.

The officer and two residents suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

The investigation remains ongoing by the Humane Society and detectives with 2 District and the Forensic Services Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service.
