Detectives Investigating Fatal Collision on McLeod Road – Niagara Falls

On September 3, 2024, at 12:59am 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara on the Lake) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of a serious collision in Niagara Falls involving a car and bicycle.

Officers attended the scene on McLeod Road east of Drummond Road along with Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics and Niagara Falls Fire Service personnel. The initial investigation determined that a bicycle and a black 2010 Acura ZDX had collided on the roadway.

The bicycle was being driven by a 30-year-old male (Niagara Falls) with a 36-year-old female (Niagara Falls) passenger. The passenger was seated in a wagon. The Acura was being driven by a 43-year-old female from Thorold.

Paramedics and Fire Service personnel attended to the driver of the bicycle and his passenger. The female passenger was found to be in critical condition. She was transported to a local hospital. She died in hospital due to her injuries. The male suffered serious injuries and was also transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the Acura was not injured.

A section of McLeod Road between Alex Avenue and Drummond Road was closed for the investigation. The road has reopened.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Detectives from the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit have been called in to investigate. They are being assisted by the NRPS Forensics Services Unit.
