November 23, 2021 – Update 1
As a result of the investigation, on November 23, 2021, the 80 year old female from Jordan, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following offences of:
Operation While Impaired Causing Death contrary to section 320.14(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada Operation 80 mgs and over contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada Causing Death by Criminal Negligence contrary to section 220(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused attended bail court on November 23, 2021 and a publication ban has been put in place. As a result limited details are being released.
Original Release – September 4, 2021
On September 3, 2021, at approximately 4:00pm, 8 District (Grimsby) uniform officers, the Lincoln Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services attended the area of Victoria Avenue and Spring Creek Road, in the Town of Jordan, in regards to a motor vehicle collision.
Investigation revealed an 80 year old female was travelling westbound on Spring Creek Road when she continued into the intersection and was struck by a pickup truck being operated by a 50 year old male, southbound on Victoria Avenue. As a result of the initial collision the pickup truck collided with a fully laden tractor trailer that was travelling northbound on Victoria Avenue, operated by a 22 year old male.
The 80 year old female was ejected from the vehicle and transported to an out of region hospital with life threatening injuries.
The 50 year old male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The 22 year old sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing by detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit.
