On November 7th, 2023, at 7:44pm Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 6 District (Port Colborne / Wainfleet) responded to a robbery that just occurred at the Avondale located on Killaly Street East near Davis Street, in the City of Port Colborne.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the store employee who indicated a lone male suspect entered the store brandishing a knife. After making a demand for currency, the suspect fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency. The store employee did not receive any physical injuries as a result of the robbery.
6 District officers with the assistance of the NRPS Canine Unit attempted to track the suspect who is believed to have ran south on David Street after exiting the store. The suspect was not located.
The suspect is described as follows:
Male White 25-40 years 5’4” to 5’6” tall 175lbs to 190lbs
The suspect was last seen wearing:
Black toque with a pink pompom and writing on the front White mask covering his face Black winter jacket Green (possibly camouflage) pants Cloth winter gloves White shoes
Detectives assigned to the 3 District Criminal Investigative Branch have assumed carriage of the investigation. Area residents, specifically those to the south of the Avondale are encouraged to review their CCTV footage and contact the lead detective by dialing 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1008393 with any relevant information.
