Detectives Investigating School Related Post on Social Media

On April 20th, 2022, the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) became aware of a post circulating on social media platforms including TikTok and Snapchat that suggested a teenage boy has been attending schools in the Niagara Region threatening to stab students.

Detectives assigned to 3 District (Welland/Port Colborne) with assistance from our Cyber Crime Unit are actively investigating the origin of this information.  At this time there is no evidence to suggest the validity of this post.  There is no known threat to the public, including teachers and students within our educational institutions.

Should there be an active threat, the Niagara Regional Police Service will liaise with the effected school(s) to ensure lockdown procedures are implemented and immediately communicate with the public.  No schools were directed to lockdown as a result of this social media post.

Members of the public who wish to provide information anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-8477.  Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to persons who contact the program with information that leads to an arrest.
