Detectives Looking to Identify Suspect in Relation to Stolen Vehicle in Smithville

On Sunday December 26, 2021 at approximately 8:15 am members of the Niagara Regional Police Service commenced an investigation into a robbery that occurred in the area of Cherry Avenue and Jane Street, in Smithville.

Investigation revealed that on Sunday December 26, 2021 at approximately 8:00 a.m. an adult female briefly left her running vehicle unlocked and unattended in a residential driveway in the area of Cherry Avenue and Jane Street, in Smithville. The female confronted a male suspect as he entered the vehicles drivers’ seat. The female was pushed to the ground by the suspect and then stole the victim’s vehicle.

The vehicle left the area and was last seen driving west on Cherry Avenue near Jane Street, in Smithville. 

The victim sustained minor physical injuries. 

The stolen vehicle has not been located and is described as a 2018 white Hyundai Tucson sport utility vehicle with Ontario licence plate CENL567.

The vehicle has snow tires with black metal rims and may have minor scrapes on the passenger front corner and front door. 

The suspect is described as:

Male 20–30year old Slim build Approximately 5’ 9” Short black hair  The suspect wore a black jacket and a black cloth facemask 

The suspect is associated to a gray four door BMW with black rims that had been in the area prior to and during the robbery. 

Investigators in the Grimsby Detective Office are seeking the assistance of the public to identify the suspect or further detail about the involved BMW.
