Driver Charged Following Collision – St. Catharines

On Thursday, September 4, 2025, at approximately 4:50 p.m. uniform members of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) responded to the area of Lake Street and Pinedale Avenue in the City of St. Catharines for a reported motor vehicle collision.

The initial investigation determined a black Hyundai Elantra was travelling northbound on Lake Street at a high rate of speed. The vehicle collided with a utility pole, and the impact caused the pole to become dislodged from its foundation. As a result, the road was closed while crews worked to complete repairs.

There were no injuries reported. The road was reopened at approximately 4:45 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025.

The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old resident of St. Catharines, was charged with the following offences:

Careless Driving Driving While Under Suspension

The driver was issued a Part III Provincial Summons with a future court date.
