On Sunday, August 24, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m. uniform members of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) assigned to 3 District (Welland/Pelham) responded to the area of Niagara Street and Roger Drive in Welland for a reported for a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
The initial investigation determined that a silver Honda Civic was travelling south bound on Niagara Street when a collision with a pedestrian occurred. Tragically, the 73-year-old male pedestrian succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service have assumed carriage of the investigation. They are being supported by detectives from the NRPS Forensic Services Unit. The collision remains under investigation.
Detectives are seeking dashcam, cell phone, or other surveillance footage recorded between 10:45 p.m. and 11:10 p.m. on Niagara Street, near Roger Drive in Welland, that may have captured the incident.
