The owner of a Grimsby convenience store has been charged with fraud by the Niagara Regional Police.
Store owner Hikmat Reda, 54, who manages and operates Milk N Things, a convenience store at 74 Main St West in Grimsby, was arrested and has been charged with fraud, passing off wares, and possession of property obtained by crime.
A month-long investigation conducted by officers from the 8 District Grimsby office of the Niagara Regional Police Service was initiated on a tip from a member of the public.
On Wednesday, the officers executed a warrant at the Milk N Things convenience store. “Counterfeit water pipes and sunglasses bearing illegal trademarks were seized,” reported the Niagara Police in a news release. The total value of seized items is under $5000.
At the scene, Reda, who is a Hamilton resident, was released by police and has been ordered to appear in court.
