Investigation Following Welland Shooting – Update 2 – ARREST

Detectives from 3 District (Welland/Pelham) of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) have continued to investigate a shooting that occurred on May 9, 2025, in Welland. As a result of the investigation, Shaun Krawiec, 28, of Bradford, Ontario, was identified as the suspect.

Krawiec was wanted for the following Criminal Code offences:

Aggravated assault Discharging a firearm with intent to wound, endanger life or prevent arrest Pointing a firearm (2 counts) Possession of a loaded regulated firearm Possession of a firearm, weapon or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order (2 counts)

On May 15, 2025, officers from the Provincial ROPE (Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement) Squad, acting at the request of the NRPS, located and arrested Krawiec in Toronto (Etobicoke).

At the time of his arrest, Krawiec was found to be in possession of a firearm and was subsequently charged by the Toronto Police Service. Once his new charges are resolved, custody of Krawiec will be transferred to the NRPS for processing and charges related to the May 9, 2025, Welland shooting.
