Investigation into Falsely Submitted Insurance Claims Results in Two Arrests

In November of 2022, the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Central Fraud Unit (CFU) received a complaint from an insurance company pertaining to suspicious benefit claims being processed and submitted by two individuals who reside in the Region of Niagara.

Investigation by detectives has determined that between June of 2017 and January of 2022 numerous false insurance claims were submitted for services not rendered, resulting in a significant payout of Canadian currency being fraudulently obtained.  As a result of the investigation, detectives arrested two suspects in the morning hours of February 3rd, 2023.

Joseph ARCURI (44 years) of Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offence:

• Fraud Over $5000

Jessica ROGERS (39 years) of Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offence:

• Fraud Over $5000

ARCURI and ROGERS have been released from custody on a Form 10 Undertaking.  Both are scheduled to attend court on April 28th, 2023, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catharines.
