In September 2022, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District (St. Catharines/ Thorold), 2 District (Niagara Falls/ Niagara-on-the-Lake) and 3 District (Welland/ Pelham) Street Crime Units commenced a joint investigation into overnight break and enters at various Tim Hortons locations throughout the Region of Niagara.
A total of eight Tim Hortons stores were targeted in the Cities of Niagara Falls, Welland, St. Catharines and Thorold. An undisclosed amount of Canadian and American currency was the target of each commercial break and enter.
On November 10, 2022, after identifying a suspect, detectives received judicial authorization to execute a search warrant at a residential address near the intersection of Dorchester Road and Jubilee Drive in the City of Niagara Falls. As a result of the investigation an adult male has been arrested and charged. Detectives recovered Canadian and American currency in the residence, believed to be proceeds of the break and enters.
Kevin Michael BOUTILIER (43 years) of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
Break and enter commit place other than a dwelling (9 counts) Break and enter non-dwelling with intent (2 counts) Possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5000 Fail to comply with probation order
BOUTILIER was held for a bail hearing that took place on November 11, 2022, via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines. He was remanded into the custody of Ontario Correctional Services.
