Joint Commercial Enforcement Initiative Results in 51 Charges – Lincoln

On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), Halton Police Service (HPS), Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and the Town of Lincoln partnered for a joint enforcement initiative focusing on commercial motor vehicle enforcement.

In response to community concern involving increased commercial motor vehicle traffic in Vineland, the focus of this initiative was to identify commercial motor vehicles intentionally bypassing the Town of Lincoln Inspection Station and to conduct in-depth vehicular inspections to ensure compliance with road safety standards, as legislated by the Province of Ontario.

Collectively, 39 vehicles were comprehensively inspected, resulting in 13 vehicles being removed from the highway after significant safety concerns were identified.  Two sets of licence plates were subsequently removed and seized.  In total, 51 charges were laid including overweight, improper load covering, incorrect vehicle registration, improper daily inspection. Out of service defects that were identified include brake adjustments, leaking fluid systems, leaking brake lines, insecure loads as well as charges for weight infractions and improper inspection reports were issued.

The Niagara Regional Police Service remains committed to achieving its identified goal of enhancing road safety, as outlined in the 2022-2025 Strategic Plan.  Members of the public wishing to report traffic complaints are encouraged to contact our Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) by telephone at 905-688-4111, option #3, extension #1025555 or by email at [email protected]
