A 67-year-old Lincoln man has been charged in connection with sexual assaults spanning back to the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Last August, detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service Sexual Assault Unit started an investigation into allegations of sexual assault spanning back more than 30 years.
A police statement released today said “between 1987-1991, a male and female under the age of 16, were allegedly sexually assaulted in the Town of Lincoln.”
As a result of the investigation, Peter Vanderplaat, 67, of Lincoln, was arrested and charged with four offences:
- Gross Indecency
- Sexual Assault, 4 counts
- Sexual Interference, 2 counts
- Indecent Act
Vanderplaat is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
