On Monday, September 8, 2025, at approximately 7:10 p.m. uniform members of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) assigned to 6 District (Port Colborne/Wainfleet) responded to a local retail store in Port Colborne for a belated incident.
The initial investigation determined that a young person and their mother entered a retail store. While inside, a male suspect was observed following them throughout the store without their knowledge. At one point, the young person briefly separated from her mother. During this time, the suspect approached the young person, inappropriately touched her and took an image or video of her.
The victim immediately returned to her mother and disclosed the incident. The mother and victim attempted to locate the suspect, however, he actively avoided them. The mother then notified store staff, who assisted police in reviewing video surveillance.
The investigation was continued by detectives with the NRPS Sexual Assault Unit (SAU). At approximately 10:20 p.m., members of the SAU located, identified, and arrested the male suspect.
