Male Facing Weapon and Drug Charges in Niagara Falls

In August of 2024, members of the Niagara Falls Street Crime Unit commenced an investigation into the trafficking of controlled substances by a male suspect in the City of Niagara Falls.

On August 7, 2024, at 12:38pm, members of the 2 District Street Crime Unit and Emergency Tactical Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service located the male suspect and placed him under arrest.

A search warrant was then executed at a residence in the area of Cropp Street and University Avenue in the City of Niagara Falls and on a vehicle belonging to the suspect. Detectives seized the following as a result:

886.1 grams of cocaine (estimated value: $35,000) 572.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine (estimated value: $17,500) 501 grams of fentanyl (estimated value: $36,000) Approximately $30,000 of Canadian Currency A loaded Glock 19 handgun. The handgun was equipped with an extended magazine capable of holding 30 of bullets. The handgun was loaded with 30 bullets.

Lex REECE (24 years old) of Oshawa, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 Possess loaded regulated firearm Possession of prohibited device or ammunition Careless storage of firearm, weapon and prohibited device Possess restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a license Possess firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with Possess firearm without holding a license Possess schedule I substance for trafficking (opioid fentanyl) Possess schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (crystal methamphetamine) Possess schedule I substance for trafficking (cocaine)

REECE was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catharines.
