A 38-year-old man has been charged after police in Niagara Region allege he sexually assaulted a woman in her 80s in the town of Lincoln.
Police say the investigation began in March after a woman reported an incident involving a man she met through the dating app Zoosk.
Investigators say the man identified himself on the app as a 77-year-old man named Hag.
Police allege the man sexually assaulted the woman when they met in person.
Investigators say the accused was arrested Friday in Niagara Falls, Ont., and charged with sexual assault, failing to comply with probation and obstruction of justice.
Investigators say the suspect also used the same username on another dating app, Our Time.
Ahmed Hagras, 38, of North York, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following offenses: Sexual Assault, Fail to Comply with Probation, Obstruct Justice.
He was held on bail and is expected to appear in court today.
Hagras is known to be active on the following dating apps with the user handle “Hag”:
- Zoosk
- Our Time
Through the course of their investigation, detectives have reason to believe there are further victims.
