Man Wanted for Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle in St. Catharines – Update 1 – ARREST

Jeremy Joseph Bowen (24 years) of no fixed address is in the custody of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS).

NRPS 1, 2, and 3 District detective offices have been investigating this incident since it began and have been attempting to locate Bowen.  On January 18, 2023, officers received information that Bowen was in the downtown area of St. Catharines.  1 District uniformed officers responded to the area in an attempt to locate him.  Bowen observed the officers and drove from the area at a high rate of speed in a black Honda Civic.  Out of a concern for public safety officers did not pursue.  A short time later Bowen returned to the downtown area and exited the Honda.  Officers blocked in and disabled Honda.  Officers from the NRPS Emergency Task Unit arrested Bowen after a foot pursuit. 

Bowen has been charged with the Criminal Code offences of:

Uttering Threats Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle (2 Counts) Theft Under $5000 Failing to Comply with Probation (6 Counts) Flight from Peace Officer (2 Counts) Assault a Peace Officer with Weapon Fail to Stop at Scene of an Accident Assault Peace Officer Resist Arrest

Bowen has been held in custody.  He will appear at a video bail hearing on January 19, 2023, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.

Detectives would like to acknowledge the assistance of the public and media in locating and safely arresting Bowen.
