On Saturday, August 16, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m. uniform members of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) responded to an apartment in the area of Vine Street and Scott Street in the City of St. Catharines for an Assist Ambulance call for service.
The initial investigation determined that a female victim suffered serious burn injuries to her upper body and face. She was transported to hospital in critical condition. The scene was secured by uniformed members, and detectives with the 1 District Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) took over the investigation.
Detectives determined that the victim was deliberately targeted by three suspects known to her. The suspects entered her apartment and used an accelerant to light her on fire while she slept. As a result of the investigation, three suspects were identified.
On Monday, August 18, 2025, detectives located and arrested:
Chassidy ARCHER, a 25-year-old female resident of St. Catharines, has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:
Attempted Murder Break Enter and Commit an Indictable Offence
Moises MEDEIROS, a 30-year-old male resident of St. Catharines, has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:
Fail to Comply with Probation Order (2 counts) Attempted Murder Break Enter and Commit an Indictable Offence Carrying a Concealed Weapon
ARCHER and MEDEIROS were scheduled to attend a bail hearing which occurred Tuesday, August 19, 2025, via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St. Catharines where they were remanded into custody.
Rebecca DAIGNEAULT, a 37-year-old female resident of St. Catharines, is WANTED for the following criminal offences:
