NRPS Detectives Investigating Overnight Fatal Hit & Run on Silver Bay Rd. – Port Colborne – Update 1

Detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit have been investigating a fatal fail to remain collision involving a 51-year-old Port Colborne man that occurred on October 5, 2024. The victim had been walking southbound on the east side of Silver Bay Road (south of the Friendship Trail) at approximately 10:50pm on Saturday October 5, 2024.

The victim was located along Silver Bay Road in critical condition on the morning of October 6, 2024, at approximately 4:34am.  The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation has determined the suspect vehicle is believed to be a black 2006-2010 Jeep Commander sport-utility vehicle (see similar photo). The suspect vehicle will be missing the left front fender flare and left front fender liner and will have headlight damage.

The family of the victim has requested that his identity not be released.

Anyone who may know of a black 2006-2010 Jeep Commander sport-utility vehicle that frequents the area of the collision is asked to contact detectives. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the investigating officers by calling 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009367.

Anyone (residents / business owners) who may have been in the area with cell phones, closed circuit video recording, or dash camera footage between 10:00pm and midnight on Saturday October 5, 2024, is asked to review their footage of the area and contact police if they observe anything suspicious.
