On March 29, 2022, at approximately 5:40AM our 8 District (Grimsby) uniform officers responded with emergency services personnel to a report of a head on collision involving an ATV and a minivan.
Officers arrived on scene in the area of Caistorville Road near Concession 3 in West Lincoln with West Lincoln Fire Services and paramedics. The driver of a black CAN – AM ATV (side x side) was found to be deceased.
The 2006 black Honda Odyssey minivan contained four adults. All four occupants were treated and transported from the scene by Niagara Emergency Medical Services and Hamilton Emergency Medical Services paramedics. Three of the injured persons had minor to serious injuries. The fourth person was transported by paramedics with life threatening injuries and is listed in critical condition in the hospital.
The ATV was demolished. The Honda was also heavily damaged.
Detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and Forensic Services Unit have been called in.
The identity of the deceased remains unknown. The deceased is described as:
Male white 25 – 35 years of age Approximately 170 lbs. with a slim build. Short dark brown hair Dark brown beard. Longer goatee No visible Tattoos
The deceased was wearing:
Boots Work pants – dark beige Blue hoodie with “Sheet Metal Workers of Ontario” logo (see similar image below) Dark coloured moto cross enclosed helmet with goggles Knee pads – that are similar to ones one in the sheet metal or roofing industry
Families and /or businesses in the area with overdue family members or employees are asked to contact detectives.
Caistorville Road between Concession 2 and 3 has been re-opened.
The circumstances of the collision remains under investigation.
