NRPS Investigating Serious Collision in Pelham

On August 26, 2024, at 2:49pm uniform officers from the 3 District (Welland/Pelham) and 8 District (Lincoln/West Lincoln/Grimsby) offices of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of a serious collision in the Town of Pelham.

Officers attended the scene along with Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics and Pelham Fire Service personnel on Victoria Avenue at Foss Road. The investigation determined that a 2012 silver Dodge Caravan and a 2015 white Kenworth transport truck had collided. The Dodge was being driven by a 48-year-old man from Welland who suffered serious injuries that were initially believed to be life threatening. He was transported by paramedics to an out of region hospital for further care. The driver of the Kenworth a 45-year-old man from Wainfleet did not suffer any injuries.

The Dodge is believed to be totaled having sustained severe damage. Damage to Kenworth is estimated at $4000.

Victoria Avenue was closed between Wiley Road and Concession 1. Foss Road was closed between Victoria Avenue and Farr Road for the investigation. Roads were re-opened at approximately 7:00pm when the injuries to the driver of the Dodge were upgraded by medical staff to be serious but nonlife threatening.
