On December 22, 2022, at approximately 8:51am emergency services personnel responded to a report of a serious collision in the City of Thorold.
1 District St. Catharines / Thorold uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Services (NRPS) arrived on Beaverdams Road near Baker Street. Personnel from Niagara Emergency Medical Services and Thorold Fire Services were providing treatment to two injured persons. A male driver in his 50s from St. Catharines was found to be in critical condition with life threatening injuries. At the time of the collision, he had been driving a grey Mazda.
The second injured person was a Thorold man in his 60’s. He had been driving a grey Lexus. He sustained what is believed to be nonlife threatening injuries. The drivers were both transported to a local hospital for further treatment. The driver of the Mazda was later flown to an out of region hospital.
Detectives from the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit have been assigned to the investigation. They are being assisted by detectives from the Forensic Services Unit.
The road closures in the area were reopened at 2:20pm.
