NRPS Investigating Serious Collision on Fly Rd. in Lincoln

On December 2, 2024, at 6:12pm emergency services personnel responded to a report of a serious two vehicle collision in the Town of Lincoln.

8 District (Lincoln/West Lincoln/Grimsby) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) along with Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics and Town of Lincoln Fire Services responded to Fly Road near Walker Road.  The initial investigation determined that a school bus (no children on board) and a grey Ford Escape SUV had collided head on. The bus ended up in the ditch on the north side of Fly Road, while the Ford Escape ended up in the field on the south side of Fly Road. Both vehicles were demolished.

The driver of the school bus a 42-year-old woman from West Lincoln received minor injuries. The driver of the Ford sustained serious injuries and was transported to an out of region hospital for further care. The injuries to the driver of the Ford were initially believed to be life threatening resulting in road closures in the area. The driver’s medical condition was later upgraded to serious injuries that were believed to be nonlife threatening.

Investigating 8 District officers formed grounds to believe the driver of the Ford was impaired. Officers attended the out of region hospital and arrested the driver of the Ford.

Joseph Fuca (29 yrs.) of Lincoln has been arrested and charged with the Criminal Code offences of:

Fuca was released on a Form 9 Appearance Notice with a future court date of January 3, 2025, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.

At 11:42pm roads in the area were re-opened.
