On Saturday, April 5, 2025, at approximately 1:20 am 1 District (St. Catharines / Thorold) uniform patrol officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred in the area of Glendale Avenue and Kerr Street in the City of St. Catharines. Since this incident was first reported, detectives assigned to the NRPS Sexual Assault Unit have been actively investigating.
As a result of the investigation, detectives formed grounds to believe that the reported allegation of sexual assault was unfounded. Further investigative steps confirmed the allegation had been fabricated.
On April 22, 2025, detectives arrested and charged 54-year-old Jacqueline Olsen from St. Catharines with the Criminal Code offence of Public Mischief.
Olsen was released on a Form 10 Undertaking with a future court date.
