Opioid Investigation Leads to Arrest – Niagara Falls

In May of 2025, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) detectives with the Opioid Enforcement and Education Unit (OEEU) and Street Crime Unit detectives assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) commenced an investigation into the distribution of illegal drugs in the City of Niagara Falls. 

On Thursday, July 17, 2025, detectives, with the assistance of 1 District Street Crime (St. Catharines/Thorold), received judicial authorization to execute a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on an apartment unit in Niagara Falls.

As a result of the investigation police seized the following:

967 grams of cocaine (estimated street value of $96,700) 4.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine (estimated street value of $320) $3256 of Canadian currency

 

Dylan MANNIACO, a 36-year-old resident of St. Catharines, has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

–          Failure to Comply with Undertaking

–          Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking-Crystal Meth

–          Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine

–          Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5000

–          Trafficking in a Schedule I Controlled Substance

MANNIACO remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing Friday, July 18, 2025, via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St. Catharines.

The NRPS Opioid Enforcement and Education Unit (OEEU) is funded by the Ontario Government’s Community and Safety Policing Grant. The OEEU is a Niagara Regional Police Service initiative focused on education regarding the risk associated with illicit opioid use, while incorporating enforcement to address opioid-related issues within our community.
