The Meridian Community Centre in Pelham will re-open some of its facilities next Tuesday after a COVID-19 shutdown.
The reopened facilities include the centre’s walking track, team benches in both arenas, and access to furniture in the atrium.
The walking track will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. It will be open to 20 walkers, who can reserve half-hour time slots. Two slots can be booked consecutively. There’s a limit of one hour of use person per day. No running is permitted at this time. To register, call 905-732-7872.
Team benches will be open to those renting the arenas. All skaters are welcome to access the space, as long there are no more than 50 people on the ice at one time. Skaters are asked to arrive 15 minutes before their ice time. The arena change rooms are not open yet, so users are advised to come already dressed. Spectators are not allowed at this time.
Furniture in the atrium can be now used. Each item is spaced two metres apart.
Patrons will need to complete a health screening when entering the building and are required to wear a face-covering when not participating in physical activity. Social distancing protocol is in effect, with the exception of participants of sports teams.
The MCC will continue to reopen facilities in the following weeks according to Public Health guidelines. For updates on this, you can visit the Town of Pelham website or call 905-892-2607 x 347.
