Police investigating brazen theft of truck by an armed man in Grimsby

A pickup truck was stolen in Grimsby early Wednesday morning after an armed man accosted its owner.

Grimsby uniform officers from the Niagara police responded to a report of a robbery at a home in the area of Samuel Road and Bal Harbour Drive in Grimsby beach, a few blocks from the lake. 

Police report that a male had been warming his 1999 black and gold Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck (Ontario # 6044ZT) in his driveway.  A man approached the truck owner and brandished a weapon and demanded the truck keys and the victim’s wallet.  He then drove off in the truck.

Police have not released what type of weapon was used in the robbery.

The suspect is described as: White male, approximately 5’6″ or 5’7″ with a tall thin/slender build. He was wearing a grey hoodie with the hood pulled up and a red/maroon jacket over top.

The victim was not injured. The location of the stolen truck is currently unknown.

Detectives believe the robbery was a targeted incident

Police ask if anyone sees the truck to contact the police. The incident has been assigned to detectives from the 8 District detective office.  Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, extension 1009336
