At approximately 10:10pm on Saturday June 28, 2025, uniform officers from 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle collision in the area of Holland Road and Merrittville Highway in the City of Thorold.
Initial investigation revealed that a 2017 grey Dodge Caravan, driven by a 41-year-old Thorold woman, collided with a black 2014 Ninja Kawasaki operated by a 16-year-old St. Catharines male.
The 16-year-old male sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision. He was treated at the scene by Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics and Fire Services before he was pronounced deceased.
Detectives from the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit, with the assistance of the NRPS Forensics Services Unit, attended and have taken carriage of the investigation.
The circumstances surrounding the cause of the collision remain under investigation.
