Police seek public assistance in armed robbery case

Niagara police are investigating a robbery of a St. Catharines Avondale store by an armed man early Monday morning and are seeking the public’s help.

1 District (St. Catharines) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service were called to an Avondale store at 362 Scott Street in St. Catharines at approximately 3:10 AM.

Police said an unknown man entered the store with a gun, and demanded cash from an employee, from the register. The suspect fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival. He was last seen running southbound on Vine Street.

The employee did not sustain any physical injuries as a result of the robbery. NRPS detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

He is described as being: Male, 6’0 tall and 250 lbs. His clothing is described as: Black and gray horizontal-striped, long-sleeved sweater, black pants, black beanie touque, black shower shoes/sandals, white socks, wearing a blue surgical mask that covered the majority of his face. He was carrying a white plastic bag.
