On Monday, November 24, 2025, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln/West Lincoln) uniform officers responded to the West Lincoln Community Care Thrift Store in the Town of West Lincoln for reports of found remains.
The investigation revealed that a sealed wooden urn containing what is believed to be cremated remains was dropped off at a donation bay sometime between Wednesday, November 19, and Thursday, November 20. It is unknown at this time if the cremated remains are human or animal. The urn contains a 6-digit number marked on the bottom of the lid that is believed to be an identification number (528395).
Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying who donated the urn in an attempt to return the cremated remains to their rightful owner. Any member of the public with knowledge of the cremation industry that may recognize the style of urn or 6-digit identification number is asked to contact police at (905) 688-4111, option 3, extension 1009747.
