St. Catharines Man Arrested by Detectives in Relation to Multiple Property Crimes

Niagara Regional Police Service uniform officers and detectives assigned to multiple communities have been investigating a series property related crimes since January 10, 2022.  The crimes include commercial break and enters and thefts of automobiles.  The incidents have occurred in Grimsby, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Thorold, and Niagara on the Lake.

Between January 10, 2022, and January 26, 2022, the suspect targeted multiple businesses (10) when he smashed in the glass door or window.  The suspect would then enter the business and steal what cash he could find. 

During the same time period the suspect also broke into car dealerships and auto repair businesses to steal cars (five).  When in the business the suspect stole what cash he could find, cars, and key fobs. In one case the suspect armed with stolen key fobs returned three times to a St. Catharines car dealership to steal different automobiles from the lot.

The value of the damage, stolen cash and stolen automobiles is believed to be over $30, 000.

The 1 District St. Catharines Street Crime Unit was able to identify a suspect in relation to the above incidents.  On January 27, 2022, detectives arrested the suspect in Thorold.

Jeremy Troy Boyer (32 years) of St. Catharines has been arrested and charged with the criminal offences of:

Break, enter and commit non dwelling contrary to s. 348(1)(b) CC (10 Counts) Theft of a Motor Vehicle contrary to s. 333.1(1) CC (5 Counts) Fail to Comply Release Order contrary to s. 145(5)(a) CC

Boyer has been held in custody and will attend a video bail hearing on January 28, 2022, to the Robert S. K. Welch Court House in St. Catharines.

This investigation remains ongoing by detectives.  Officers are currently holding Boyer’s residence while a search warrant is being obtained.
