St. Catharines Robbery – Detectives Appealing to Witnesses

On May 23rd, 2022, at approximately 10:30pm Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines) responded to a parking lot in the area of Rykert Street and Westdale Drive, in the City of St. Catharines for a robbery investigation.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim, an injured adult female.  Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics attended the scene and assessed the victim’s injuries before transporting her to a local hospital for further medical treatment.  The victim has since been released from hospital but continues to recover from her serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigation has revealed that the victim parked her vehicle and upon exiting was approached from behind when she was struck multiple times.  The suspect obtained the victims purse and fled the scene on foot with personal items belonging to the victim and an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency.

The suspect, who is wanted for the Criminal Code offence of Robbery is described as follows:

–        Male

–        Wearing jeans

–        Wearing running shoes

–        Wearing a hooded sweatshirt

–        Wearing a mask covering his nose and mouth

Residents with CCTV footage that captures Rykert Street and Westdale Drive and motorists who were in the area with an operational dash-camera, are encouraged to review their footage and contact the lead detective at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009482 with any relevant information.

Members of the public who wish to provide information anonymously are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).  Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to persons who contact the program with information that leads to an arrest.
