The Town of Grimsby wants to hear from residents so it can improve traffic flow and safety around Nelles Road South and Dorchester Drive.

The traffic study zone is located in a residential area south of Main Street East (Hwy 8) near the escarpment. It’s not far from Cole’s Florist, Shopper’s Drug Mart, and Dollarama and is a few kilometres east of downtown.

The town wants to assess safety or traffic concerns in the area as a response to inquiries received from residents over the last few years.

The study area as noted in the official notice for study on the Grimsby website.

The study will also look at the addition of a sidewalk along Nelles Road South and Dorchester Drive.

Two traffic studies have already been completed in the area, but residents have continued to voice their concerns. The new study will help identify remaining issues with the direct help and involvement of residents.

The project is in the beginning stages with the launch of the project webpage and online survey, which have been live since August.

The timeline may be subject to change, but as it stands, the months of August and September will involve data collection and analysis. The town will use this data to create traffic safety and sidewalk recommendations and will present findings and recommendations to the public sometime in October.
