Truck Strikes NOTL Swimming Pool, Cops Make Arrest

On Wednesday July 27th, 2022, at approximately 5:41am Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara-on-the-Lake) responded to a residential address on Concession 7 Road, in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake regarding a motor vehicle collision involving a truck into a swimming pool.

Upon arrival, officers determined the driver/owner of the 2011 GMC Sierra pickup truck fled the scene prior to police arrival.  The estimated damage value of the pickup truck is $15,000 and the estimated damage to the swimming pool is $100,000.

On August 2nd, 2022, officers identified the driver as Grant BARLOW (36 years) of Niagara-on-the-Lake.  BARLOW has since been arrested and is charged with the following offences:

• Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle – Criminal Code – Section 320.13(1)

• Public Mischief – Criminal Code – Section 140(1)

• Fail to Remain – Highway Traffic Act – Section 200(1)(a)

BARLOW is being held for a bail hearing scheduled to take place on August 2nd, 2022, via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.
