Two new COVID-19 cases in Niagara schools, one in Grimsby

The Niagara Catholic School Board reported a new COVID-19 case at St. Joseph Catholic
Elementary School in Grimsby Thursday night.

Niagara Catholic said in a news release that “as a result, students and staff at the school were exposed to COVID-19 while this individual was infectious.”

The person is currently in self-isolation. The principal of St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School has sent a letter to all students and staff to notify them.

St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School staff are working with Niagara Region Public Health and will comply with all requirements. The board said affected individuals will receive a letter from Niagara Region Public Health through the school.

At the District School Board of Niagara Thursday, a case was also reported at Westlane Secondary school in Niagara Falls. The individual was not identified. The case resulted in the closure of two classrooms.
