Two Niagara Falls men arrested on child pornography charges

A grandfather and his grandson from Niagara Falls have been arrested and charged with offenses related to child pornography.

In October of 2020, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit (I.C.E.) commenced an investigation into the sexual exploitation of children that led to the arrest of Dimitrios Karounos, 77, and Dimitri Karounos, 28. Niagara police said the men are grandfather and grandson living in the same Niagara Falls home.

Dimitrios Karounos was charged with Possession of Child Pornography, Accessing Child Pornography, and Make Available Child Pornography.

Dimitri Karournos was charged with Possession of Child Pornography.

Dimitri Karournos has been held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for Thursday, June 3rd in St. Catharines.

Police said members of the public can report suspicious Internet activities relating to child exploitation to the Niagara Regional Police Service, or online at www.cybertip.ca.
