St. Catharines, ON – Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services (NRPS) Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) have made an arrest in a Fail to Remain Motor Vehicle Collison which occurred in St. Catharines in January 2025.
On the evening of January 8, 2025, officers attended the area of Church Street and Calvin Street in St. Catharines after reports of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle. Police, St. Catharines Fire Department, and Niagara Emergency Medical Services responded and located an adult male suffering from life threatening injuries. He was transported by Air ORNGE to an out-of-region hospital for treatment.
On August 8, 2025, after a lengthy investigation, detectives with the CRU arrested a male from Niagara Falls, ON.
33-year-old Darsh Gill has been arrested and charged with the following offence:
– Fail to Stop Cause Bodily Harm.
Gill was held for a bail hearing and released with a future court date.
CRU detectives executed two search warrants at two separate locations in Niagara Falls (a residence, and a business). An identified Dodge Caravan involved in the collision was located and seized for police examination.

Detectives Investigating Fail to Remain Involving a Pedestrian in St. Catharines
On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at approximately 6:26pm, Niagara Regional Police Service responded to Church Street near Calvin Street in the City of St. Catharines for a collision involving a single motor vehicle and a pedestrian.
Police, St. Catharines Fire Department, and Niagara Emergency Medical Services responded and located an adult male suffering from life threatening injuries. He was transported by Air ORNGE to an out of region hospital. He is currently in stable condition.
The driver of the motor vehicle failed to remain at the scene.
The suspect vehicle is described as:
2008 or newer, dark coloured Dodge or Chrysler van with roof rails There will be front end damage The vehicle will likely be missing a silver coloured, Dodge brand, plastic hub cap, that was located near the scene
Church Street, between Niagara Street and Queenston Street, was re-opened at approximately 2am.
