UPDATE 1 – ARREST – Police Investigating Serious Collision Following Altercation in Fort Erie

Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) detectives assigned to 5 District (Fort Erie/Ridgeway) Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a serious collision.

On Sunday, June 15, 2025, Baylee LEMOINE (21 years) of Niagara Falls turned himself into police. LEMOINE is facing the following criminal charges:

Fail to stop and the scene of an accident cause bodily harm

LEMOINE remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Monday, June 16, 2025, via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St. Catharines.

This investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 905-688-4111, dial option 3, extension 1009538.

At approximately 12:30am on Sunday June 15, 2025, 5 District (Fort Erie) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to reports of a serious collision in the area of Netherby Road and Winger Road in the Town of Fort Erie.

Initial investigation revealed that following an altercation at a house party nearby, a male left the home in a grey Volkswagen Jetta.  A second male departed the same residence on an ATV and was allegedly deliberately struck by the Volkswagen.  The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene on foot.

A 32-year-old male from Thorold sustained serious injuries.  He was treated at the scene by Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics and Fire Services personnel before being transported to an out-of-region hospital for further medical care. 

The NRPS K9 Unit attended the scene but was unable to locate the suspect.

Detectives from the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit and 5 District Detective Office were called to the scene and were assisted by Detectives from the NRPS Forensic Services Unit. 

Detectives have identified the driver of the Volkswagen Jetta and are currently attempting to locate him.

21-year-old Baylee James Lemoine is wanted for the following criminal offence:

Fail to stop at the scene of an accident contrary to Section 320.16(2) of the Criminal Code
